Mid and East Antrim Borough Council helping to keep the Borough tidy

Big Spring Clean 2015, is an annual initiative supported by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

The Mayor, Councillor Billy Ashe said: "The main object is to encourage and support local residents in carrying out a litter clean-up within their immediate neighbourhood, whilst at the same time raising awareness of items which are eligible for recycling."

As part of the 'big clean-up', staff from the Operations Directorate of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Ballymena Office, members of Glenravel & District Community and Residents' Association and other local residents undertook a clean-up within Cargan and Martinstown areas. Local councillor Paul Maguire, said: "Big Spring Clean events are planned throughout the year and any organisation that wishes to participate in cleaning up their area can get help from the Council through Environmental Health."

In addition to normal bin collection service, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council's Waste Services offers a bulky collection service for collection of large waste items, i.e. fridges, freezers, cookers etc. The contact telephone number for either is 0300 124 5000.
